It’s a brand new year. And with a new year usually comes new year resolutions. While it seems a bit cliche or boring, it is an important facet of trying to make sure this year is better then the last. Here are couple things we think you should consider for your new year resolutions if you haven’t done so yet.

1. Get in Shape. This is a common one for many folks around the new year. And there isn’t anything wrong with that. Especially in the business of Exotic Dancing, since a trimmer waistline can equate to a higher income. Whether you decide to start hitting the gym, or starting eating less junk food, a commitment to living healthier is a win-win situation no matter how you look at it.

2. Read More. While this sounds boring and maybe even a waste of time, what you read can actually improve how much you make every night at work. Learning new sales techniques or how to be a better saleswoman can greatly boost your income, and help you with the third recommendation below.

3. Start Paying off Debts. With the economy in the toilet right now, and customers in the club spending less, there are ways to improve your financial situation RIGHT NOW! They include paying off high interest credit card debts and putting the rest away in a savings account or investing it. One way that paying off credit card debts actually gives you more spending money is that once it is paid off, you no longer have monthly payments that you have to budget for. If you’re paying $400 a month in payments to your credit card company, you might be working one or two nights a month just to pay for your credit card bill. When you no longer have any credit card payments, you immediately have that $400 to do with as you please, every single month after your card is paid off. We understand that you may have more credit card debt then the example above, but paying more then the minimum amount due every month brings you much closer to the day that you are debt free, and also will lower your minimum monthly payment.

4. Start Saving More. After you’ve paid off high interest debts, or while you doing so, you should set aside an amount that you will set aside and either put into a savings account or an investment account. You don’t have to save or invest thousands of dollars a month to get started. Putting aside $10 or $20 a night, or $50 a week, and putting it into some type of saving or investing account where it is not easily accessible or spent when you have the urge to buy those new $300 pair of boots and gives you a chance to start building something that can be put to work FOR YOU!

5. Buy Something Big. Now this sounds like it goes against the last two resolutions we just mentioned, but becoming a financial hermit isn’t fun and what’s the use of saving if you don’t ever seem to get anything from it? With this resolution, think of something you’ve really wanted for awhile but haven’t been able to afford. Now, with the price of that item in mind, think of what you could set aside every week or month to actually buy that item say 6 or 9 months from now. If it’s a big flat screen t.v., you might need to put away $50 a week for six months. But, with the prices of many electronic items falling, you might be able to buy the one you want much sooner or even a better or bigger model then the one you’ve been eyeballing for awhile. The main thing is, plan for the purchase and pay for it in cash. Don’t finance it. And after you’ve gotten what you’ve wanted for so long, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and achievement that you’re hard work and savings has paid off. It’s a great incentive to do more of the same in the future.

If you’ve already made new year resolutions, great. But if you haven’t, it’s still not too late to get started on a couple or even all of the one’s mentioned here if you are having a hard time coming up with some of your own

This post was guest blogged by Jenna J. She has been an Exotic Dancer for eight months now and has learned alot already in her short time in this business. She is working while also pursuing her masters degree in English. We are thankful to have her join on as a contributer to our site

I’ve been dancing for eight months, and I feel like every week I learn something new, whether it’s a new dance technique or a new way to interact with customers.

Dancing is an experience, to say the least. There are many people who have nothing but negative things to say about dancing, but I strongly believe that you can make dancing a positive experience. In my opinion, it’s all about self-control, confidence, and determination.

As an entertainer, you will encounter various types of people and situations. You have to have the confidence, determination, and self-control to stay out of negative situations.

For instance, more than likely when you start working at a club you will experience some tension and slight resistance from the other dancers. Don’t let this discourage you from dancing. Women come and go in this business. I have learned that it is normal for dancers to work at different clubs. Many dancers travel. Others may feel that they are not making good money at a particular club and move on to another one. Therefore, the “tenured” dancers, if you will, are accustomed to this and are wary when new dancers come to their club.

You have to gain their trust. Simply be yourself. Don’t gossip about anybody you meet. Some may test you. Others may freely talk about other dancers. Take it all with a grain of salt. Don’t blab what you heard. Stay out of the drama. If the dancers see you are there to make your money in a professional, legal way and not involve yourself in drama, then they will respect you.

And that’s another key point when it comes to dancing. YOU ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY. Dancing is a job. Don’t make it your lifestyle. Come to work to simply work. Don’t get caught up in the drama because it can hurt you emotionally and financially.

Another key aspect to being a successful entertainer is having confidence. Being new to the business, there have been numerous occasions where I have let my fears and low self-esteem seep through. Believe it or not customers can pick up on your insecurities. You have to show your customers that you strongly believe in yourself and value yourself. You don’t have to be conceited to show customers you have confidence. I have seen several girls walk around the club with a big head. This is very unattractive to men (and women). I strongly believe in being classy when I am at work. Trust me, you can still present yourself as a strong-minded, confident classy lady without being stuck up and trashy.

The last and most important key aspect to dancing is having self-control. I live by this motto: Dancing is a job, not a lifestyle. I say this because I have met other dancers who believe dancing is their life. Wrong attitude! Never forget who you are as a woman. Remember you will encounter various situations (i.e. drugs, sexual solicitation, arguments with other dancers). You need to be able to control yourself and not get involved in any situations that may be damaging to yourself or job. Don’t get sloppy drunk at work. Limit your alcohol intake. Sure, a couple drinks is okay, but getting wasted at work is unattractive to customers and you could lose your job.

You need to ensure that you have your own personal code of ethics and standards, and don’t bend or break your own rules.

Perfect example: I never give my number out to a customer when I am at work. I had to learn the hard way that this is a very big mistake. My second week of dancing I gave a customer my phone number (just to be nice and make a sale) and he ended up waiting for me outside of the club and tried to follow me home. This was a rude awakening for me and taught me to be more careful when I am at work.

It’s also important to maintain your standards because at the end of the night you want to feel good about yourself. I always say I’d rather go home with the least amount of money and my self-worth then to go home with a lot of money and lose my self-worth.

Dancing can be a positive experience for you. You just need to ensure that you are aware of your surroundings and the people in your environment. You need to establish what your personal standards and code of ethics are and stick to them. Never lose yourself or forget who you are as a person. Don’t get caught up in the mix.

2008 was an interesting year for everyone. The housing and financial markets imploded, the first black president was elected in the United States, gas prices plummeted from their high, the first “pregnant man”, and JoshAndChandra.com went live to help all Exotic Dancers make money. While some of these things are irrelevant, we think we mentioned the best last (ok gas being less then half of what it was is freakin amazing). So to commemorate JoshAndChandra’s first year in existance, we are going to list the top 10 most read posts here on our blog. We hope you enjoy them the second time around as much as you did the first time you read them.

10. Excerpt from “How to Make Money at the Gentlemen’s Club” – Part 3 -

Yesterday we took a look at a bit of Chapter 6 in section 2 titled, “How to Lead the Customer to a Sale”. Today we look at a portion of Chapter 1 Section 3, “Saving Your Money”.

Do you find that you are short money all the time even though you go home with lots of it every night after work? Do you struggle to pay your bills on time because you don’t have enough saved at the time? If so you are not alone in this country. Most households in America struggle to keep up with their obligations. They either borrow too much or they have a serious problem saving what they make. This section will cover how you can learn to save at least some of what you make. To Read More Click Here…

9. How to Get Started in Exotic Dancing -

There are MANY things you will need and must prepare for before beginning a career in exotic dancing. The first at foremost thing to consider is if this is what you want to do for a career choice. It can be a very expensive one for you, if you do not take into consideration what goes into dancing. Dancers clothes and shoes are not cheap, and if you do not buy good quality items, you will be replacing them more often then you should. But before we go more in depth in that area, stop by a local club or two that you’ve heard good things about, and see what takes place there. To Read More Click Here…

8. The single biggest thing standing between you and success in Stripping is… -

Do you ever wonder what stands in the way of you and success at work. There are other girls at work that make it seem so easy and get tons of dances with customers. They consistantly go home with large sums of cash all the time. What’s stopping you from going home everynite with buckets of money? The answer is YOU.

At the end of the day, you are the only thing standing between you and success. Success and winning is an attitudeSuccess isn’t measured in money, power, or cars. Success is a frame of mind, so much that if you think about this scenario you’ll understand why. To Read More Click Here…

7. Exotic Dancer E-BOOKS! -

JoshAndChandra.com now has two e-book resources for helping Exotic Dancers in their profession. Our first e-book is titled “How to Make More Money in the Gentlemen’s Club” and the second one is titled the “The Successful Stripper.” Both e-books cover completely different material as far as how to make money approach customers, be a top earner, and ultimately how to manage your incomeNow for the first time ever, you can own both of these e-books for the price of one!

When you order “The Successful Stripper,” you will also receive a free copy of “How to Make More Money in the Gentlemen’s Club.” To Read More Click Here…

6. Excert From Our Hot Selling E-Book “How to Make Money at the Gentlemen’s Club!” – Part 1

This week only, we are running brief excerts from our E-Book titled “How to Make Money at the Gentlemen’s Club.” Also this week we will be offering the for only $19.97, a savings of over $30 from the full retail price. Thi offer ends Saturday, April 19 at midnite. If you like what you read, please consider ordering the entire book as it is packed full of knowledge that can benefit the dancer just starting or the 10 year vet looking to make even more bank. But enough of that, here’s a brief portion of chapter 3, “Reasons Customers Choose Certain Girls”

1. Attraction. Attraction comes from many factors. Skin color, Hair color, hair length, Height, Weight, Clothing. About as many factors that are unchangeable at any given moment, there are those things that are changeable. What you wear, how you do your hair, makeup, and how you smell, are all things that influence those around you and are things you decide on. To Read More Click Here…

5. One of the Biggest Money Makers for Any Dancer, Including You -

Paging thru a recent magazine, I was reminded of a great sales technique that fits in perfectly with the dancing profession. It’s something that anyone from the Veteran dancer to the girl who just tried on her first pair of stilleto’s can incorporate. And unlike a new costume or a new fragrance, it won’t cost you a dime. Here’s what it is.

First, think about what all the great money makers in this profession have posessed that you’ve ever come into contact with. If you’re coming up blank, I’ll help you out. To Read More Click Here…

4. Making Money as an Exotic Dancer During a Recession -

Times are tough out there right now for everyone. The stock markets in the toilet, unemployment is the highest it’s been in years, and there are less customers walking thru the doors of the clubs. But that doesn’t mean there still isn’t money to be made being a dancer. Our ebook “How to Make More Money at the Gentlemen’s Club” is just what you need to boost your earning potential even during tough times. Click the link to read more and start making what you never thought was possible.

3. Top 10 Mistakes All Strippers Make -

There are certain things all dancers do wrong, whether it is only one from this list or many, it can impact how much you make a nite, or over the course of the week. If you can eliminate all of these things on this list, you will be ahead of your peers, and will be on your way to making more money.

1. Thinking every girl is going to be your friend. In this business you learn that the only person you can trust 100% is yourself. If everyone thinks you are ignorant and trusting, they will take advantage of you and take everything they can from you. To Read More Click Here…

2. 5 Habits of Highly Successful Exotic Dancers -

Here are 5 qualities that are ALL shared by successful dancers. If you can incorporate these habits into your lifestyle and work ethic, you will be joining the elite of the elite. Your income will increase dramatically. And your perspective about life itself will change. It will take a bit of work to integrate these traits into your life but you will be well rewarded by doing so.

1. Be Proactive! Being proactive is one of two responses to any given situation. You can be proactive or reactive. To Read More Click Here…

And the #1 post is:

How to Be a Successful Stripper or Exotic Dancer

With this first post we are going to analyze what it takes to not only just be an exotic dancer but a very successful one at that. There are many things that aren’t apparant for most when they start in this business and many girls who have been dancing for years still are missing out on making even more money by not fully looking at all the elements it takes to be the best they can be. We are going to cover everything we can, day by day, because this isn’t something learned in one sitting. It takes practice, patience, studying (others) and learning from someone who’s successfully mastered this business for years. To Read More Click Here…

And that’s the top 10 most viewed posts on JoshAndChandra.com for 2008. We hope you have learned a lot from our site and hope you have been equally profitable from doing so. We wish you prosperous 2009 and hope you continue to visit us for even more knowledge on how you can be the Elite Dancer we know you can be!

Working in a new club is exactly like moving a business into a new marketplace. You’ll be faced with new challenges that weren’t in front of you previously, but your perseverence through these situations will set you apart from others. And one of the biggest obstacles you will face is the local competition.

Competition is actually a good thing. But those who’ve been in that market you are moving into do not see it that way. They want all the customers and their money in the club for themselves. If they had it their way, they might want to be the only girl working at the club. But would you really want to be the only girl working in a busy club? Do you think many guys would hang around long if there was only one girl working? That one girl could likely charge what she wanted above and beyond what the club set for dance prices, but then where does integrity come into play during this scenario? There isn’t anything to keep her from over charging her customers, although what she offers is likely not any better then what the next girl would offer (In fact it might be worse because she hasn’t had to work hard for her money due to the fact that customers previously had no other option available). Her service would likely be poor and over priced.

The main thing to remember about going in to a new club is to not change who you are or your sales approach. Don’t let the house girls scare you off or intimidate you. They will try as you pose a threat to them. Go in and take what’s yours. The customer’s money is just as much yours as it is theirs, and another thing, change is usually for the better. I’m sure the customers appreciate a new fresh face from time to time. So go in there and show them what you got.

Everyone has a different motivation for going to work. It doesn’t matter if your job is a dancer, truck driver, or a doctor. There is something that drives you to get up and out the door to work everyday that you do. You can argue it’s just to keep a roof over your head or food in your belly, but is that all you really aspire for?

It’s true that money can come quick and easy at times in this business of exotic dancing. But what is it all for? Is it for your family? Pay off past debts? To support a habit? Sometimes you need to take a step back and re-evalutate what exactly is important to you and put your time and energy into that motivating factor.

If you are working for your family, don’t spend all your time at work because you’ve just defeated the main purpose of working for them. How are you supposed to see them happy if you’re never around? And if you’re working to pay off past debts, it wouldn’t really make sense to be racking up more debt at the same time, because you will NEVER get ahead then. You must learn to live well WITHIN your means. Money doesn’t always come fast and easy. Many are facing this hard-to-swallow truth right now as we are in the midst of a real economic recession right now. Finally, if you’re going to work only to support your drinking or drug habit, you are missing life. Period, end of story. You are wasting your money, your time, and likely space in this world. Nevertheless, if you are going to work to support a habit, maybe it’s time to face the problem you’ve been avoiding and address it head on. You can never escape your problems, they will always follow you. Deal with them now because they’re not going away anytime soon.

The main point of this post is just to take a moment and reflect on why you work so hard. Remember to enjoy the fruits of your labors with the ones you love. Remember to be vigilant on impulse spending. And finally, remember that when faced with a major obstacle or hardship in life, you can’t just avoid your problem. Take care of yourself and make the most of the time you are here. Somebody out there cares about you, and more then likely you care about someone out there also. It’s all about priorities.

In case this hasn’t crossed your mind lately, your body and how it looks is 75% of where your nightly earning come from. Yesterday in my blog post I mentioned that your appearance will be a huge factor initially concerning if a customer wants to approach you or ask you for dances. Today I’m offer a few tips on how to make sure you are keeping on track or how to get there as far as your diet is concerned.

Now when I saw diet, I’m not talking about something you follow for two weeks then you can resume your daily ritual of McDonalds and Reese’s peanut butter cups, if you are so inclined. I’m talking about what your dietary intake needs to be EVERYDAY. For a VERY, VERY Long Time. And your first tip is to NOT drink any soda. That means no Coca-cola, pepsi, sprite, 7-UP, or any other type of sugary carbonated beverage, even if you are a drinker, which I’ll talk about shortly. Get it on the rocks, or with water, if you feel you must have a drink for whatever reasoning it is you give yourself. I’ve known girls who’ll down a six pack of coke a night. I wonder if they ever realized they just put 270 grams of sugar in their body which equates to 1080 calories that’s going to be turned straight into fat. I never really felt sorry for them then, and I sure don’t now either.

Rule number 2. NO FAST FOOD. I don’t care if it’s a salad from wherever, it’s still more then likely garbage. Plan ahead and make or bring your own food. A nice bonus of making your own is you will save a bundle on cash in the process. But that’s not the exact topic on hand. Now if you’re wondering what foods you can eat, I’ll help you figure it out right now.

First healthy fresh foods. I’m also a certified personal trainer and have hundreds of people change their physique in literally a couple weeks, just by modifying their diet. It will never replace exercise, but sometimes people have to get in shape, just so they can get into shape. These healthy foods include chicken (not fried), fatty fish like salmon, nuts like macadamian and walnuts, egg whites, brown rice, brocolli, fruits when eaten strictly in the morning, and sweet potatoes. There’s a huge list of more obviously but you can get an idea and a feel for where we’re headed here. Notice you didn’t see any Snickers bars, or potato chips listed. For more info on healthy eating and exercise, visit our friends over at http://www.cityfitclub.com. You will find a wealth of info on how to live a much healthier lifestyle and feel better in the process.

Next onto the exercise part. If you are one of the ambitious people in life, and I hope you are, and you make it to the gym on at least a semi regular basis, there are a couple things you need to remember. 30 minutes of cardio at a moderate clip is a complete waste of your time. I’m not going to get into the details of this as you can do a little research yourself, BUT if you are going to put in the effort to be there, UNDERSTAND you must do AT LEAST 45 minutes of cardio to have any effect on the fat burning process. But that’s not all either. You have to make sure your heart rate stays in the 140 beats per minute area to optimize the time you are putting into this process of burning off excess fat. Those two things are MUST DO’s if you are serious about losing weight. They are something I’ve taught for years and had so much success with clients for so very long. It will work for you too.

Finally, Drink more water then you think you possibly can handle. Honestly, while being at work and all the energy you spend on other activities during your day, you need to be drinking a minimum of one half gallon of water a day. That’s 64 oz. You need to be drinking more then that. And if I hear one peep about “oh I’ll be bloated and hold so much water then!” I swear I’ll go postal on you. FYI, water is actually a mild diuretic and the more you drink, the more your body will actually expel. So drink plenty of it. It’s good for you.

If you have a hard time getting motivated to exercise or eat healthy, just think to yourself everytime you eat some junk “oops, there goes that extra $100 I would have made tonite, if I wouldn’t have just cowed out on that bag of Fritos and bean dip”. Ok, so you don’t need to do exactly that, but you do need to learn how to motivate you. Nobody else will.
