Everyone has a different motivation for going to work. It doesn’t matter if your job is a dancer, truck driver, or a doctor. There is something that drives you to get up and out the door to work everyday that you do. You can argue it’s just to keep a roof over your head or food in your belly, but is that all you really aspire for?

It’s true that money can come quick and easy at times in this business of exotic dancing. But what is it all for? Is it for your family? Pay off past debts? To support a habit? Sometimes you need to take a step back and re-evalutate what exactly is important to you and put your time and energy into that motivating factor.

If you are working for your family, don’t spend all your time at work because you’ve just defeated the main purpose of working for them. How are you supposed to see them happy if you’re never around? And if you’re working to pay off past debts, it wouldn’t really make sense to be racking up more debt at the same time, because you will NEVER get ahead then. You must learn to live well WITHIN your means. Money doesn’t always come fast and easy. Many are facing this hard-to-swallow truth right now as we are in the midst of a real economic recession right now. Finally, if you’re going to work only to support your drinking or drug habit, you are missing life. Period, end of story. You are wasting your money, your time, and likely space in this world. Nevertheless, if you are going to work to support a habit, maybe it’s time to face the problem you’ve been avoiding and address it head on. You can never escape your problems, they will always follow you. Deal with them now because they’re not going away anytime soon.

The main point of this post is just to take a moment and reflect on why you work so hard. Remember to enjoy the fruits of your labors with the ones you love. Remember to be vigilant on impulse spending. And finally, remember that when faced with a major obstacle or hardship in life, you can’t just avoid your problem. Take care of yourself and make the most of the time you are here. Somebody out there cares about you, and more then likely you care about someone out there also. It’s all about priorities.

With the dog days of summer now merely a memory, now’s just as good a time as any to remember what’s important to you. Why do you get up every day and do the things you do? Is it for yourself? For your family or loved one? Just to make ends meet? Regardless of what it exactly is, don’t lose sight of it. It will keep you focused on your task at hand. And here are a couple simple things to do to keep you constantly on task.

Keep it posted where you will see it several times a day. Whether it’s your bedroom mirror, bathroom mirror/vanity, the fridge door, somewhere on the dash of your car, it doesn’t matter. Write it down or cut a picture from your magazine, the picture of a loved one, or what it is that currently drives you to succeed.

Don’t get distracted by the trivial. It’s easy to get sidetracked in life with so many nuances and digital interruptions going on in our everyday lives. Do you really need to go out to breakfast after work with the girls? How about going home and making something small? It’ll likely be healthier and cheaper on your purse wallet. And drinking at work is something that’s easy to do sometimes, but is so detrimental to the final outcome of the night in a couple different ways. For one, if you’re paying for even a few of your drinks, you’re losing money and literally pissing it away. And even if you drank all night for free, you likely aren’t even at 75% of your earning potential as you become a bit more lazy and a bit more unfocused on why you are at work, which is to extract as much money as is possible from the club and bring it home. Drinking might make the night a little more fun, but fun hardly ever pays the bills.

The main thing in life is to make sure you have your priorities straight. Set your goals. Imagine what life is like when you have what you seek. Now think long and hard about the path that will take you there. That is your own personal road to glory. Go after it and make your happy.
